Uruguay Coin Necklace

This beautiful Uruguay coin consists of a coat of arms shield which is divided into four equal sections and crowned by a rising golden sun commonly known as the “Sun of May.” This symbolizes the rising of the Uruguayan nation and the May Revolution. The oval is surrounded by a laurel branch on the left and an olive one on the right, representing honor and peace, joined at the bottom by a ribbon. The reverse of this coin depicts an Armadillo (in Spanish: Mulita).

The shield consists of 4 quadrants:

• Golden scale which symbolizes equality and justice
• Cerro de Montevideo (Montevideo Hill) with its fortress on top, as a symbol of strength
• Galloping black horse which symbolizes liberty
• Ox symbolizing abundance
